Spritual Warfare by Brian Borgman & Rob Ventura

Borgman and Ventura share their insights into the reality of spiritual warfare, what it is and what it is not in this book that seeks to educate readers with sensationalizing or minimizing it. Based on Ephesians chapter 6, this book gives an overview of the battle, a guide to the armor God provides us with, and instruction related to prayer and sharing the Gospel.

Each chapter in this book provides an in-depth look at each of the pieces of the armor that God provides us with:  The breastplate of righteousness, shield of faith, helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit.  I thought it was particularly interesting how Borgman and Ventura provided a historical look at each piece.  For example, when describing the breastplate of righteousness, they shared that it was a covering that covered both the front and the back of the soldier.

Although I have read over Ephesians 6 several times, I found that this book gave me a fresh perspective on the full armor of God.  I thought it was such a great book.  It was very interesting and not at all dry.  This book is everything that the authors describe on the back cover, very balanced.

As I read this book, I kept thinking that this book would be excellent to use as a devotional book.  If you are looking for a book to help you understand more fully the armor of God and the purpose of each piece, this is a great resource.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Cross Focused Reviews in exchange for my honest review.  All opinions are my own.
