The Zombie Hero Chronicles: Book One – Genesis by Courtney Ayres

I had previously reviewed The Zombie Hero Chronicles, but wanted to revisit the debut novel of Courtney Ayres because The Zombie Hero Chronicles:  Book Two will be coming out soon.

I thought this book was very well thought out in regards to the plot and the characters. The author really shows an understanding of boys and their relationships with each other, especially in their communication with one another! Obviously it is natural for a brother to call his younger brother “Little Girl”. This book has it all, funny dialogue, unexpected twists, and caring relationships between characters.  I also really liked the descriptions, especially of the mom’s cooking!  What a great debut novel by the author. I couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait for the next book to come out!

This book is perfect for boys because it fulfills their need and desire for creepy, zombie creatures in a clean, entertaining way.  They can identify with the characters, a group a boys trying to solve an eerie problem, with a minimum of adult supervision.
