Renegade by Mel Odom

I thought this book was related to Deployed by focusing on a different character from that book.  I was pleasantly surprised when other characters from Deployed showed up in this book and I read with the sense of becoming reacquainted with old friends.

Although I usually do not read this type of military book, I enjoy Odom’s novels.  Obviously, for me the characters are the most interesting aspect.  Odom’s characters are real-life people with baggage, challenges in their personal lives, and pasts that impact their presents, but that it what make them so believable and lovable.

The plot is well-written and moves at a steadily increasing pace.  I don’t enjoy reading about all the carnage of war, but I do understand this is a military novel and violence is a part of that.  I couldn’t put the book down and can’t wait to read the next installment of the Called to Serve series in 2014.

I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys reading military or police books.  It is an interesting, fast-paced book!
